Hollywood and surf celebrities collided last weekend to promote ocean awareness at the Project Save Our Surf: Surf 24 Surf-A-Thon. The event helped raise $50,000 for Heal the Bay, Inside the Outdoors, and the Surfrider Foundation. To start off the event Bob Meistrell, founder of Body Glove was honored at the kickoff dinner Friday night for his community involvement and continued dedication to ocean conservation.
For the first time the event was held in Orange County, at the legendary Huntington Beach Pier and pitted 10 teams against each other with surfers rotating every hour for 24 hours. True Blood’s Sam Trammell and Eric Balfour of 24 were just a few of the celebrities that competed in the Celebrity Heat on Saturday.
Also riding the waves was Ricochet, the surfing dog, along with her friend Patrick Ivison. Sporting a pink Body Glove Pet Flotation Device, the two rode tandem to help raise awareness for the disabled community.
